U bolt is a bolt that has been formed in the shape of the letter U. Since the letter you has curved ends it can be easily fitted around the pipes or Tubing. U bolts can be used to support and secure piping work and also work as restraints. 

The main reason that they use it over the piping is that it prevents the pipes from moving or striking each other which results in wearing down. This U bolt is made up of many kinds of materials because it should be non-corrosive and should have long durability. 

In the market, the common U-bolts materials available is plain carbon steel, 316 stainless steel, and lastly 304 stainless steel. If the bolts have to be non-corrosive a layer of coating that is protective coating should be applied. The common type of coating is zinc plating, hot-dip galvanization, mechanical hot-dip galvanized and auto black.

The stainless-steel material will have a nickel plating and this process is carried out by using electricity. Similarly, hot-dip galvanization is also the process of adding zinc but it gives a thicker coating because the bold itself is dunkin in the molten zinc and can be easily used under water as well.

Fluoropolymer is a mixture of elements that are applied over stainless steel, commonly a mixture of elements are xylan, Teflon, or PTFE. The thermoplastic process involves adding buffers to the materials (Tavares et. Al., 2020).

There are many types in the U bolts. The SS square U bolts are made up of stainless steel. The SS 316 U bolts are most commonly used because they have a good corrosion resistance where it is compared to the 304 U bolts but the 316 U bolts are a little bit expensive as well.
